The Black History Flag symbolizes the history of change in the social and political landscape of Blacks in America, and the pride and reverence felt by many Americans who view Black leaders as heroes and agents-of-change.
The Concept
The strong African markings in the stars and stripes of the Black History Flag were chosen from select authentic African textile. What gives the flag an even more distinct character is the salute to a select group of African American heroes, specifically community organizers and civil rights leaders who dedicated their lives to a cause much bigger than themselves.
It was their pride, belief, and determination that gave them the will to continue forward and change America. From Soujorner’s truth to President Obama’s promise, the Black History Flag waves a history of progress and determination of Blacks in America who fought against slavery, racism, and lingering misconceptions to make the world a better place.
